Spatial information products
Overview
Note: Currently available products can be accessed through Census geography: Spatial information products.
Road network files
Digital representations of Canada's national road network, containing information such as street name, types, directions and address ranges.
Availability1: November 17, 2021.
Boundary files
There are two types of boundary files:
- Cartographic boundary files portray the geographic areas using only the major land mass of Canada and its costal islands, and;
- Digital boundary files portray the full extent of the geographic areas including the coastal water area.
Availability1:
- November 17, 2021: Geographies made available in this release include CCS, CD, CSD, DA, DB, ER, PR/TERR, ADA, FED, CAR;
- February 9, 2022: Geographies made available in this release include CMA/CA, CT, POPCTR, DPL, population ecumene (cartographic only);
- September 21, 2022: The geography made available in this release includes FSA©;
- September 27, 2022: The geography made available in this release includes Agricultural ecumene (cartographic only).

Overview

GeoSearch
An interactive mapping application that makes it easy to find many places in Canada, see them on a map, and get basic geographic and demographic data for those places.
Availability1: Day of release according to the release schedule.
Thematic maps
A thematic map shows the spatial distribution of one or more specific census data themes for standard geographic areas. The map may be qualitative in nature (e.g., predominant mother tongue) or quantitative (e.g., percentage population change).
Availability1: Day of release for selected topics according to the release schedule.
Reference maps
Reference maps illustrate the location of the census standard geographic areas for which census statistical data are tabulated and disseminated.

Attribute information products
Overview
Note: Currently available products can be accessed through Census geography: Attribute information products.
GeoSuite
A powerful search tool based on census standard geographic areas. Users may retrieve and query data, explore the links between geographic areas, obtain information on those areas and output data in tabular format.
Availability1: February 9, 2022.
Geographic attribute file
Contains geographic data at the dissemination block level. The file includes population and dwelling counts, land area, geographic codes, names, unique identifiers and, where applicable, types.
Availability1: February 9, 2022.
Correspondence files
Contains unique identifiers for the current census geographic area and the corresponding unique identifier for the previous census geographic area.

Geography Catalogue
Contains information found in the Statistics Canada Online Catalogue. In addition, it provides highlights of what is new about geographic products, illustration of several products, a glossary of geographic terms, a geographic hierarchy diagram and a table showing the number of geographic areas by province and territory.

Illustrated Glossary
A tool that helps users take advantage of census statistical data by providing an understanding of terms related to geographic concepts.

Reference guides
Most geographic products are accompanied with a reference guide that describes the content, applications, data quality and record layouts.
Availability1: The first edition will be available on November 17, 2021. The second edition will be available on February 9, 2022.

Custom services
Overview

Custom area creation
This service allows users to define their own geographic areas for census data tabulations. Custom geographic areas are produced from the aggregation of standard geographic areas or blockfaces, where available. Confidentiality constraints apply.
Availability1: Fall 2022.
Custom product creation
Service to produce non-standard geographic products that satisfy clients' individual requirements. Clients may require various custom geographic files, special data retrievals, manipulations of geographic data or combinations of data from a variety of sources. Confidentiality constraints apply.

Custom map creation
This service provides users with custom thematic maps, reference maps and other user-defined maps, designed and produced specifically to meet their data and/or analytical requirements.
