Data visualization

The Census Program Data Viewer (CPDV) is a web-based data visualization tool that makes statistical information more interpretable by presenting key indicators in a statistical dashboard. Users can click and zoom in on a map of Canada or the user can search by place name or postal code^OM. The CPDV displays the appropriate thematic map showing boundaries and other features. Results can be exported (CSV or XLSX) or, the user can share their customized dashboard by a link.

Focusing on a selected geographic area, this product presents data highlights, through text, tables and figures, for each of the major releases of the 2021 Census.

Interactive charts display various census data or indicators for selected geographies. Clicking a particular area of a chart allows users to customize their view and display different data or indicators.

Infographics present key information derived from census data on a variety of topics. Infographics can be used to quickly communicate a message, simplify the presentation of large amounts of data, to see data patterns and relationships, and to monitor changes in variables over time.

Videos showcase high-level findings of census data at the national level in an easy-to-consume narrative format.

A thematic map shows the spatial distribution of one or more specific census data themes for standard geographic areas. The map may be qualitative in nature (e.g., predominant mother tongue) or quantitative (e.g., percentage population change).
