Figure 2.4H provides an overview of the Sino‑Tibetan languages component. Sino‑Tibetan languages are broken down into three major branches, which include: Chinese languages, Tibeto‑Burman languages and Sino‑Tibetan languages not included elsewhere. Sino‑Tibetan languages not included elsewhere is not broken down further.

By contrast, Chinese languages include: Gan, Hakka, Huizhou, Mandarin, Min Dong, Min Nan (Chaochow, Teochow, Fukien, Taiwanese), Pu‑Xian, Wu (Shanghainese), Xiang, Yue (Cantonese) and Chinese not otherwise specified.

Tibeto‑Burman languages include: Burmese, Dzongkha, Eastern Kayah, Jingpho, Falam, Hakha, Mizo, Chin not otherwise specified, Pwo Eastern Karen, S’gaw Karen, Karen not otherwise specified, Newar, Tamang, Tibetan and Tshangla.
