Population, 2016 and 2011 censuses

• In 2016, the enumerated population of Halifax (Regional municipality) was 403,131, which represents a change of 3.3% from 2011. This compares to the provincial average of 0.2% and the national average of 5.0%.
• The land area of Halifax (Regional municipality) is 5,490.35 square kilometres and the population density was 73.4 people per square kilometre.
• In 2016, there were 173,324 private dwellings occupied in Halifax (Regional municipality), which represent a change of 5.0% from 2011.
