Earnings and Incomes of Canadians Over the Past Quarter Century, 2006 Census: Earnings

The gender gap

This section documents the gap in earnings between men and women who were full-time full-year employees. Self-employed individuals are excluded.

The focus is on young workers aged 25 to 29, referred to as 'new entrants' in the labour market. For this group, gender differences in labour market experience and job tenure—two factors that are not measured in census data—are minimal.
