Note

Special Note: Impact of Municipal Restructuring

The boundaries and names of municipalities (census subdivisions) can change from one census to the next because of annexations, dissolutions and incorporations. However, since the 1996 Census, the changes are more numerous and more dramatic, especially in the provinces of Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia. In general, data from the 2001 Census are available for fewer and larger census subdivisions, and historical analyses are more complex. To bridge the impact of these municipal changes on data dissemination, the 2001 Census is producing a profile for dissolved census subdivisions. For additional information concerning the 2001 Census products, please refer to the 2001 Census Catalogue, Catalogue No. 92-377-XIE. For additional information about the census subdivisions, please refer to the 2001 Census Dictionary, Catalogue No. 92-378-XIE.

Special Note: Nunavut

A new territory called Nunavut came into effect on April 1, 1999. For additional information, please refer to the 2001 Census Dictionary, Catalogue No. 92-378-XIE or 92-378-XIP.

Special Note: Dissemination Area

The dissemination area (DA) is a new standard geographic area. It replaces the enumeration area (EA) as a basic unit for dissemination. For additional information, please refer to the 2001 Census Dictionary, Catalogue No. 92-378-XIE or 92-378-XIP.

Special Note: Location of 11 Dissemination Areas - 100% Data

There are 11 dissemination areas (DAs) in this table that do not have a 'parent' census subdivision (CSD). The CSDs for these 11 areas were suppressed due to a high non-response rate. These 'orphan' dissemination areas are located under other census subdivisions. To assist you in finding the 11 dissemination areas, a correspondence list is provided below. Please note that if you change the initial view of the table or re-sort the table, the correspondence list provided below will not apply.
